RIO Education - App Settings
RIO Education v3 license usage and feature settings
Table of Contents
The RIO Education - App Settings page is where administrators of RIO Education v3 go to see who is using a RIO Education license and to enable extra org-wide product features not available in the custom settings. Before 3.24 this page was also called RIO Education Settings.
App Settings tab
This tab shows a RIO Education Settings card with two inner tabs.
-
User Licenses
- Profile and Permission Sets Listing - every Profile and Permission Set that grants a RIO Education license, with its Type and a check mark under Admin, Faculty and/or Student. A red warning icon next to a name means it grants more than one license type.
-
User License Usage Listing - A list of every user assigned an Admin or Faculty permission/profile, and a count of student users with a Student permission/profile. This information is usually updated weekly by a scheduled job.
- Click Recalculate User Licenses to start the license calculation job right away, without waiting for the weekly scheduled run. It runs in the background, so refresh the page later to see the updated listings and Last License Job Run time.
For how license usage is counted and what the scheduled job does, see RIO Education License Usage Calculation.

-
Feature Settings
- Short Course Feature License - read-only indicator showing whether the short course feature license is enabled.
- Course Versioning Feature - The ability to enable the Course Version feature. For more information about Course Versioning, see Enable Course Versioning.

AI Configuration tab
RIO Education Support Team only
The AI Configuration tab is only usable when the AI configuration wizard feature is provisioned for your org. Otherwise the tab shows “This setting is available for RIO Education Support Team only.”
When available, a table of the AI Configuration custom metadata is displayed. Because this custom metadata is protected, they cannot be updated directly from Setup, and can only be updated from this component.
The following actions can be performed:
- New - opens a form to create an AI Configuration. The developer name fills in automatically from the label.
- Edit - opens the form for an existing record. The developer name cannot be changed.
- Clone - opens a new form pre-filled from the selected record, labelled "Copy of ...".
- Deactivate / Reactivate - switches the record's Active status.
Changes are deployed as custom metadata in the background, so the table refreshes itself after a few seconds. If a change doesn't appear, click the refresh button. Closing the form with unsaved changes asks you to confirm before discarding them.
