Funding Allocation
(This article refers to the object. For a use case, see: Scholarship (Fee Line) , and Scholarship (Disbursement).)
If scholarship Funding is approved for a student, it will be allocated to the student, according to the maximum amount per student and per Term, as defined in the Funding record.
These Funding Allocations will then be used to deduct Fee Lines of Courses that the student is taking, according to the amount defined. This serves to reduce the fee that the student will have to pay.
An approved Funding Allocation will be applied to specific Student Fees within the same Program Enrollment. Whilst there are other criteria that may drives which Student Fee would incur the funding, the Start Date (Calculated) and End Date (Calculated) field plays an important part to the overall logic too.
These date fields have very strong relationship against any Student Fee's due date.
The following is a summary of how the funding will be applied based on these date fields:
- The Student Fee will be funded when its due date is within the Start and End date range of the Funding Allocation.
- A Student Fee without a due date will always be applied with an approved Funding Allocation (subject to other criteria too, i.e. the "Skip Funding Allocation" checkbox at the Fee Line level).
- A Funding Allocation without the start and end date range will applies to all Student Fees (subject to other criteria too, i.e. the "Skip Funding Allocation" checkbox at the Fee Line level).
Funding Allocations are automatically applied in the following order:
- Percentage discounts.
- Flat discounts.
- Any other Funding allocations.
If two discounts / funding are of the same type, we use the Funding Allocation with the earliest Created Date first.
The "Use Detailed Funding Assignment" in the custom settings allows a Funding Allocation to be allocated as much as possible to one Fee Line, and then move onto the next.
For example, if there are multiple Fee Lines, this will allocate as much funding as possible to offset the first one.
To enable this feature, check/tick this setting and make sure there are no current Student Fees with funding assignments, as re-assignments could be incorrect.

Funding | The Funding record to allocate from. |
Status | Only “Approved” status Funding Allocations will be applied to Student Fees. |

Discount Amount | (Only for Discount Funding Type) The flat amount to be applied to any applicable Student Fees. |
Discount % | (Only for Discount % Funding Type) The percentage to discount for any applicable Student Fees. |

End Date | (Overrides Funding's End Date) Funding will only be applied to Student Fees due before this date. |
