RIO Challenge v4 - C05.04 Sending Announcement
Announcements are used to communicate important updates or changes to students enrolled in a Study Session.
This feature allows administrators and lecturers to quickly send messages to all students participating in a particular session — such as notifying them about schedule changes, class cancellations, or reminders.
In this challenge, you will learn how to send an announcement to students enrolled in a Study Session and verify that the message is visible to the student in the Experience site.

- Understand how to manage Study Session announcements through the Study Session Scheduler.
- Understand how announcements appear to students.
What does success look like?
- An announcement is successfully sent to students enrolled in the C05.04 - AN154 Lecture session.
- The student can view the announcement in the Student Portal after logging in.

Steps to complete the challenge
The lecturer for AN154 – Exploring Body, Identity, and Cultural Dynamics is unavailable next Wednesday morning due to a health check-up. The lecture will be rescheduled to the same afternoon, and students need to be informed of the change.
As the admin, you are responsible for sending an announcement to enrolled students.
- Click on the ‘RIO Challenge v4’ tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on ‘Initiate Challenge’ to generate the data required for this challenge.
- From the App Launcher, search for ‘Study Session Scheduler’.
- Click the drop-down icon for ‘C05.04 - AN154 Lecture’.
- Select ‘Send Announcement’.
Fill in the information below:

Click ‘Send’.
- Observe the notification icon on the top right of your browser. Click on it.
Notice that you received the notification that you just sent out.
- Go to the 'Contacts' tab, and select the list view 'C05.04 - Sending Announcement' to find the record created for this challenge.
Select John Doe's record.
- Click ‘Log in to Experience as User’.
- Observe the Notification icon on the top right.
The student has also received the notification regarding the class reschedule.
- Congratulations, you have successfully sent an announcement and verified that the student received it.
Log out from the Student Portal.
- Click on the ‘RIO Challenge v4’ tab at the bottom left of the page, and click ‘Complete Challenge’.
