Steps to complete the challenge
The ‘Undergraduate Program’ at RIO University is made up of several groups.
There are 2 groups that include the same Study Unit, which is AC104.
As an admin, you can decide which group should receive the credits from AC104.

In this challenge, we will enroll into a unit and release grades to understand how primary flags function and how to reallocate credit contributions to another group with the same units using primary flags.
- Click on the ‘RIO Challenge v4’ tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on ‘Initiate Challenge’ to generate the data required for this challenge.

- Go to the ‘Individual Program Enrollments’ tab, and select the list view ‘C07.11 - Grading Primary’ .
Open the Individual Program Enrollment for ‘C07.11 - Fred Smith’.
- An Individual Program Enrollment record keeps track of a student's program enrollment and their progress.
Navigate to the ‘Enrollments’ tab.
Here, you can enroll the student into Study Units every Term.
Click on the #4 tile, which represents the student's 4th Term.
Set the listing mode to ‘All’.
Notice that the ‘C07.11 - AC104’ unit exists in both the “Experiential Learning Courses” group as well as the “Foundation Core” group.
Enroll in the C07.11 - AC104 unit from the 'Experiential Learning Courses' group.
- Then, go to the ‘Program Completion’ tab.

Open the Individual Plan Structure (IPS) record of the enrolled unit from the Experiential Learning Courses group.
- Notice that, under the completion info, the primary flag is checked.
This is because the student has chosen to enroll to AC104 under the “Experiential Learning Courses” group (see step 3).
This means that by default, if the student passes AC104, the credits will contribute towards this group (Experiential Learning Courses).
Click on the “Individual Enrollment” field to open the Individual Enrollment record.
Release the grades by updating the following field.
| Grade Released Status | Released |
| Letter Grade | A |
- The grades have been released for the Study Unit AC104.
Let's see which group receives the credits earned.
Return to the Individual Program Enrollment record from step 3, and open the “Program Completion” tab.
You can see that the credit is contributed to the ‘Experiential Learning Courses’ group.
This is expected, since we saw earlier in step 5 that the “Experiential Learning Courses” group is the primary one to receive credits.
- Now, imagine that the student is having difficulty to complete the other group (Foundation Core).
The student decides to shift the earned credit from AC104 to the ‘Foundation Core’ group.
As the admin, we can manually switch the credits to contribute to the other group.
First, scroll down the program completion table and look for the “Foundation Core” group.
Then, click on the dropdown button for the Individual Plan Structure (IPS) record for the unit ‘AC104’ under the ‘Foundation Core’ group, and click ‘Set as primary’.
This means that you are now setting the “Foundation Core” group to be the primary one to receive AC104's credits.
- Once that is done, you will notice that the completed credits for C07.11 - AC104 are no longer contributed to the “Experiential Learning Courses” group ( 0 credits earned ).
Instead, it is now contributed to the “Foundation Core” group ( 2 credits earned ).
Refresh the program completion incase if you don't see the changes.
And with that, you are able to decide which group should receive credits from any Study Units that may appear in multiple groups.
You are able to transfer the credits earned from one group to another group instead.
- Congratulations, you have completed the challenge! Click on the 'RIO Challenge v4' tab at the bottom left of the page, and click on 'Complete Challenge'.
