When students transfer from one college/university to another, they may be able to transfer some or all of the credits they have already earned.
This process allows students to continue their education without having to retake courses they have already completed.
Follow this exercise to understand the steps required to create a credit transfer application.

Steps to complete the challenge
Fred Smith has previously completed ‘CS100’ unit at an External University.
The syllabus of that unit is similar to the unit ‘CS105’ in RIO University.
Therefore, Fred Smith wants to transfer the credits for ‘CS100’ to avoid having to take ‘CS105’ here.

Let us create a credit transfer for Fred Smith, so that he does not need to take ‘CS105’.
But first, we must define an Agreement between RIO University and the External University, such that their ‘CS100’ is equivalent to our ‘CS105’ here.
- Click on the ‘RIO Challenge v4’ tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on ‘Initiate Challenge’ to generate the data required for this challenge.

- Go to the ‘Accounts’ tab, and select the list view ‘C04.05 - Credit Transfer’ to find the relevant record created for this challenge.

- Click on the ‘C04.05 - RIO University' and navigate to ‘Transfer Credit Agreement’ tab.

Click to open the ‘C04.05 - Agreement’ record
- Agreements are set up between universities to acknowledge courses for credit transfer.
For example, we want to define that the external course “CS100” is equivalent to our “CS105” here.
Create a new agreement unit equivalents with the following details.
| Origin Unit Name | C04.05 - Programming Fundamentals |
| Agreement | C04.05 - Agreement |
| Origin Unit Code | CS100 |
| Target Unit Code | C04.05 - CS105 |
| Type | One to One |
| Status | Active |
| Review Date | <TODAY> |
- We have now defined that the external course “CS100” is equivalent to our own “CS105” here.
Now, let's create the credit transfer for Fred Smith Contact.

| Status | Draft |
| Letter Grade | A |

- You have now submitted a credit transfer request.
Click on the drop down menu of the recently created Credit Transfer Application record.
Click ‘Approve’ and a confirmation box will open. Fill the below table information and click approve.

| Approved Letter Grade | CT |
| Request Date | <TODAY> |
| Type | Incoming |
- You have approved the credit transfer.
This means that Fred Smith does not need to take “CS105”, since credits from “CS100” have been transferred to it now.
Let's take a look.
Open the Credit Transfer Application record, and navigate to the ‘Related Records' .
Notice that a new Individual Enrollment has been created.
Click to open the Individual Enrollment record.
- An Individual Enrollment represents a student's enrollment into a Study Unit (course).
The “Enrollment Status” and completion info have been automatically updated.
This indicates that credit has been transferred here, thus automatically completing this Study Unit (course).

- Additional notes:
The above will be automatically reflected to Fred Smith's overall program completion.
In this way, Fred does not need to take the Study Unit “CS105” here in RIO University.
- Congratulations, you have completed the challenge! Click on the 'RIO Challenge v4' tab at the bottom left of the page, and click on 'Complete Challenge'.
