RIO Challenge v4 - C04.02 - Student Enrollment

The Enrollment Wizard allows students to enroll into Study Offerings (courses offered for enrollment).

Admin users (e.g. enrollment officers) can also use the Enrollment Wizard to enroll students on their behalf.

Follow this exercise to see how to use the Enrollment Wizard to find and enroll students to the relevant Study Offerings.

2. Understand how to enroll students into Study Offerings, using the Enrollment Wizard.

Enrollment needs to be opened for a Term and its Study Offerings, in order for students to be able to enroll. See:

• C04.01 - Enrollment Open Date.

Steps to complete the challenge

The Enrollment Wizard is accessible to students on the Student Portal.

It is also accessible to admin users in the internal console, who can manage enrollment on a student's behalf as well.

A student named Fred Smith wants to enroll into Study Offerings for the current Term.

However, Fred Smith is having difficulties accessing the Student Portal, and so he has contacted the university to assist him.

The enrollment officer will help to enroll Fred Smith to Study Offerings, on Fred’s behalf.

1. Click on the 'RIO Challenge v4' tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on 'Initiate Challenge' to generate the data required for this challenge.
   
   
   
    
2. From the App Launcher, search for ‘Individual Program Enrollments’.
   
   
   
   
   Select the list view ‘C04.02 - Student Enrollment’. Click to open the record created for this challenge.
   
   
   
   
    
3. The Individual Program Enrollment is a record of a student's enrollment into a program.
   
   You can see that Fred Smith is enrolled full-time to the Undergraduate Program.
   
   
   
   
   
    
4. Fred Smith is a new intake student, who is about to begin his Term #1.
   
   Navigate to the ‘Enrollments’ tab to view the Enrollment Wizard, and help to enroll Fred Smith to the current Term.
   
   Select the 1st tile, which is for Fred's Term #1.
   
   
   
   
   
   Click on the ‘Select Term’ button, and select ‘C04.02 - Current Term’.
   
   
   
    
5. Review the list of Study Offerings available for enrollment.
   
   Notice that there is a long list of available options for Fred Smith to take.
   
   
   However, recall that Fred Smith is currently doing his Term #1.
   
   Not all of the Study Offerings are relevant to him yet.
   
   Fred Smith should take the Study Offerings meant for 1st Term students.
   
   
   Therefore, set the Filter - View Study Units = Recommended Pathway.
   
   
   
   
   Click “Apply”
   
   
   This will display the Study Offerings meant for Fred's current pathway, who is currently in his Term #1.

6. Notice that the list of Study Offerings has been reduced.
   
   The ones displayed now are those that are recommended for Term #1 students.
   
   Take note that 20 credits are recommended for this Term.
   
   
    
7. Search for the ‘C04.02 - Foundation Core’ group.
   
   Notice that it recommends students to pick 3 Study Units from this group.
   
   
   
   
   
   Enroll Fred Smith to these Study Offerings, by clicking on the ‘check/tick’ button on the ‘Action’ column:
   
   
   • C04.02 - AC104 - Advanced Composition Studies.
      
   • C04.02 - CR104 - Analytical Thinking and Reasoning.
      
   • C04.02 - IT105 - Navigating the Digital World.
      
      
     Confirm your enrollment.
     
     
     
     
      
8. Then, search for the ‘C04.02 - AoE’ group.
   
   Notice that is recommends students to pick 7 Study Units from this group.
   
   
   
   
   
   Also, notice that under the ‘AoE’ group, there are several sub-groups, each offering some Study Units.
   
   Note: You'll need to expand each sub-group to view the Study Units.
   
   
   
   
   
    
9. Let's enroll Fred Smith into 7 Study Units, with at least 1 Study Unit from each sub-group.
   
   By using ‘Ctrl + F’, search for these and enroll Fred Smith into them.
   
    

10. And with that, the enrollment officer has enrolled Fred Smith to a sufficient amount of Study Offerings for his 1st Term.
    
    
    Side tip: If you wish to unenroll a student from a Study Offering, simply click on the X button.
    
    
    
    
    
     
11. Congratulations, you have completed the challenge! Click on the 'RIO Challenge v4' tab at the bottom left of the page, and click on 'Complete Challenge'.
